A layer of ice

There's nothing like a little freezing rain to get a girl in the mood for Spring. It did give me the day off from work (ice pretty much shuts down our little mountain town) and made for some pretty pictures.

A Beary Melty Day.

Today gave me...

The cutest sleeping kitty.
This is Houdini, the magic adventurer cat and the newest addition to our family.

Iced Ginger Peach tea. Perfect for the ridiculously hot weather we're experiencing.

The opportunity to organize our collection of refrigerator magnets. We have quite a few.

  A very melty bunny

and

a visitor who decided to eat said bunny.

It enjoyed the treat, which by this time was almost completely melted onto our gravel driveway. After it's meal it scampered back into the forest.

It's times like these I really love where I live. :)

Exploring...

Yesterday was such a beautiful day that we thought a Sunday drive was in order. We're very lucky to live in such a pretty area where there are deer in the yard at any given time and a random car ride can take you anywhere...including a vacant house with some interesting 'inhabitants'.

Milkshakes and Rusty Cars.

Went on a really relaxing stroll this afternoon, sipping on a homemade oreo milkshake and snapping photos. The weather was absolutely perfect for such an occasion. Thank you, fall!

Snow day.

Well, I can't get out of my driveway to get to work, so I'll spend some time taking pictures and preparing for my sister's visit. Which I am SUPER pumped about. I've spent the last 3 Christmases without any of my family, so it goes without saying that I am way excited about this one. Hopefully the roads will be okay by tomorrow and I'll be able to get on down to Atlanta to pick her up.

Holly and Pine.

Rediscovering the beauty outside my door. I didn't even know I HAD a Holly plant in the yard (forest), but it was such a great surprise! :)

Camouflage.

Observation : If you look at the word 'camouflage' long enough, it ceases to be a word. In fact, it doesn't make sense at all and almost seems like a kind of mucus. Which is another weird word.

Anyway.

Obviously, this is a very fall inspired outfit. I found this cardigan for a dollar at a local thrift store, and although mustard isn't a color (or a condiment) that I usually go for, I snatched it up. But I actually really like it! To stop the outfit from being to overwhelmingly coordinated, I threw in these bright blue tights. The beanie I got in a craftster fall swap last year, and I love love love it! I might contact the girl again to make me some more in turquoise, forest green, and...mustard *gasp*. This could be a new obsession...

I look certifiably insane in this picture. lol

Wielding a knife...

Pumpkin picking and carving are a couple of my favorite fall pastimes. And as long as there are pumpkins for sale, you can bet that I'll be taking advantage of all the seasonal fun that these vegetables offer. Here's a little photo dump of our pumpkin-tastic afternoon.

Strawberries!

One of the best things about working at an orchard is all the seasonal fruit that we get! Right now strawberries are in season, and I absolutely love it.

These are Sweet Charlie strawberries, and they certainly live up to their name. Delicious and perfect for just eating by themselves, using in shortcakes, or cobblers!

Eating foods in season is always fun, and makes you learn to cook in different ways. lol. Not that my shortcake is any example, but still. What are your favorite fruits?

Yellow.

The longer you look at the word 'daffodils', the more you believe that that can't be a word at all, because it looks and sounds completely ridiculous.

Never the less...

The weather outside is...weather

It annoys me when people comment about the weather all the time. Or watch the weather channel all the time. Or anything like that. The weather is...weather. It's there, it happens, and you dont need to know what it's going to do every second of every day.

That being said, you should look at this snow. :)

Unexpected and beautiful. The best kind.

First Snow!

I woke up this morning at 8:45 (early for me), and about fainted when I looked outside! The porch and forest beyond were absolutely covered in the fluffiest, whitest snow. The weather channel had said we would get some down here, but I didn't expect a lot. Gorgeous!!!
Okay, well the road looks a bit rough there, but the trees!

I always get excited for the holidays once it starts snowing. It's very festive.

Kitty's first snow experience. Surprisingly, she loves it!
