Super Hero Wannabe

I love, love comic books.
Batman, Gen 13, Nightwing, JTHM, anything. And I think I need this outfit, just so everyone knows how deeply my love goes. :)

Sketchy Sketch

I finally tried making a sketchbook, using a great tutorial that I found here . I altered it a bit, making it bigger and using a great paper instead of fabric, and it still needs some fine tuning, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! This one will be a part of a care package for my sister, who starts college in a couple weeks. *Whoo education!*

I will leave you with this picture that I found on google. I have no idea where it is from, but it's super cool.

I know!

2 years and counting!

First picture together. :)

Today is mine and Phillip's two year anniversary! This time in 2007, I flew down to Georgia to meet Phillip for the first time. We spent a week making sock puppets, watching obscure movies, and getting lost in the backwoods of Georgia. I flew home, packed, and moved down here 2 weeks later. Now it's been 2 years and I can honestly say I'm the happiest I've ever been. Sometimes love finds you in the strangest places *cough* hotornot.com *cough* So, happy anniversary Butt-face! I love you!

Here's what he gave me today.

A halloween cookie jar! How freaking cool is this?! I filled it with candy, so it smells like Halloween when you open it.

And another cookie jar! I didn't even know I wanted a collection of these, but apparently I do! This one I might actually fill with cookies. :)

Euphoria

Yesterday, a friend and I spent the afternoon having some quality girl time. Which never seems to happen enough! We hit up all the thrift stores, got some lunch, and proceeded to wander around downtown Blue Ridge. Even though I live very close by, I rarely take the time to wander about all the little shops. One of the places we stopped is a little boutique called BellaEuphoria. And look what I got! The cutest wrapping paper ever. I got two rolls of it and am thinking of trying out some handbound sketchbooks and journals, with this as the cover. Phillip thinks that it's ridiculous, but I love the crap out of it.

I thought this was cute as well, the tag includes a little seed packet of forget-me-nots! Very clever and I definately won't!

I'll leave you with this image of a horrifying doll that Kayla found at a thrift store. May this haunt you the rest of the night. :)

80's cartoon swap

I just recieved my package for an 80's Cartoon Swap on Craftster that I was in, and had to show off my goodies! Everything was so amazing and was a great way to start out the day. Here are a couple of my favorites...I got a LOT more, but didn't want to bog you down with tons of pictures. :)

A TMNT backpack! It is so gosh darn colorful, I love it mucho...

A MLP needlebook. The detail on this thing is stunning. This was the first thing I pulled out of the box. So pretty!

Ghostbusters x-stitch bookmark. Again...wow...

She also made Phillip this awesome etched Ghostbusters mug. Thumbs up!

Thanks, darlin! It was one of my favorite swaps ever!

Found this perfect cup that is totally me. Anyone else have this problem?

Drank some lovely tea in a perfect teacup that I found at a thrift shop.

Finally took a picture I like to show off my new bangs. I can't decide if they make me look more chic or like a 5 year old. :)

Back in the day...

Yesterday, Phillip and I went through a bunch of cds with old pictures on them. It is amazing how much you can change in only a couple years! It's almost as if I'm looking at a completely different girl, but I can't really put my finger on what the differences are. They're just...there. It's also crazy how scewed our perseptions of ourselves are. At the time I was so so self consious, but looking back I have to think Damn Girl! You didn't look half bad! I wasted so much time worrying.

What we do every day, no matter how insignificant, shapes us and makes us who we are. What you wear, where you go, how you treat the people you meet...everything matters. Which is why I think we should try to love every day. Yeah, it won't always happen. Sometimes life just sucks. But for the most part, we should try to make every day amazing.

And you know what's amazing?

My new business cards!

It totally is...

Yes, I know. I don't have any clothing in the shop yet...but it's coming. I've been playing around with the serger and I think I've finally got the hang of it.

Me = stoked.

Vintage Finds - Pirate Apron

I want to start introducing new things into the shop, especially lovely vintage things. I always come across awesome things that I just cant justify buying. So now I'll be able to pass them on to you! Like this apron! It's amazingly piratey, and just so damn cool. How great would it be for entertaining!

Thrift Haul - 07/21/09

So guess what...

My serger came in the mail! It was very badly packed, but it works and is beautiful. I've learned to thread it by memory (it only took a couple times), and am very excited to get to sewing! I picked up some cute fabrics and fun tees to mess around with, so look for those in the shop sometime in the next couple of weeks. I've been really burnt out on sewing lately, and I'm finally getting excited about it again. Which is wonderful, because I really do love to create things.

What else...oh! We went thrifting again yesterday. I didn't find too much, but was enormously pleased with this...

and this...

Mr. Ghost.

Weird moment.

So last night I was organizing my shoes and jewelry, putting everything away and in its place. I had taken all the charms off the chains they were on and put them in a little pile in the corner of my jewelry box, closed the box and went to bed.

This morning, I go to open my jewelry box and my favorite charm is back, fastened on the chain. Not even the chain I usually wear it with! Plus, to even put this charm on the chain it was on, you have to get a pair of pliers and lock the jumpring over it. I asked boyfriend if he had put it back on, and he hadn't. So, thank you Mr. Ghost or whoever did it, I now have a lovely necklace to wear!

Still kind of weirded out though.

Addicted.

Phillidalphia roll and Shrimp Tempura sushi.

It's getting serious people. I can't seem to go 2 days without thoughts of Philly rolls, Shrimp Tempura rolls, or those delicious crab and cream cheese rangoons. To think that only a couple years ago I scoffed at the notion. How good could it be?

Pretty damn good.

And because constantly going out for sushi can burn a substantial hole in ones wallet, Boyfriend and I have decided to make our own. We tried making Philly rolls a couple weeks back, and although they tasted quite yummy...the presentation was, shall we say, lacking. So I will practice, practice, practice! And then I can have a sushi party and impress all my friends.

What's your favorite kind of sushi?

Hook me up.

I'm not sure if anyone here is into Hook-Ups Skateboard Decks, but just in case anyone is... I've got one listed on ebay! It's new and has only been used for display purposes. I really love them (I've got another rare one waiting in the wings for it's turn), but that serger is calling my name! Just thought I'd let you know. The link to the listing is here.

Nothing's really been going on here lately. A few friends and I saw Transformers at the drive in a couple days ago. Special effects were amazing, as always, but some of the acting *cough* Megan Fox *cough* left something to be desired. Ain't that always the way?

We're also heading to Charlotte on Wednesday so boyfriend can get started on his half sleeve. He's very excited, and I'm very jealous! I'm not sure how long he's going to sit, but the artist cleared the entire day so we might be there a while. I might stop by Best Buy and pick up Chrono Trigger for DS to help pass the time. It should be fun!

Painted Pandas

*edit* I made some changes and added some extras! This is a new picture.

I finished! My first pair of comissioned shoes, and I think they turned out rather well. They were made for a girl I know who is OBSESSED with pandas, so I'm pretty sure these will win her over. They're simple...but cute. And I have so much fun making these! I'm already planning a ton of other designs, and can't wait for my next order!

What do you think?

Etsy Finds - Fairytale

Oh, the joys of Etsy! Here are some of my recent favorites, inspired by fairytales and all things fanciful.

Aren't these cute! Wouldn't this felted egg set of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves look great on a shelf or fireplace mantel? By AsherJasper.

I love book purses, and this Alice in Wonderland handbag is no exception! Look how well the handles go with the spine! 100% of the profits go to the sellers father, who is losing his home. Go help her out! By Spoonful ofchocolate.

Is your passport looking not so soecial? This Little Red passport cover is cute and practical! I especially love the combination of prints. By Noei.

Dad.

I love my dad. It's not easy letting your kid move across the country on a whim, but he's always supported me and always held me up. He's the best father I could ever ask for. I miss you!

Happy birthday and Fathers Day!

Haggle

A few of my shop items have ventured into the SALE catagory! Which is good for you, and possibly good for me! I hate having things lying around, and I really want these things to be in good homes. I'm taking best offers as well, so if there's something you see that you love, but its just a bit too much, contact me! I'm always willing to haggle a little. ;)

Why the rush for a deal? I will tell you! I'm getting some money together to buy myself a nice serger, so I can start making and selling all the wonderful clothes that I have in my head, and put to good use some more awesome fabric that has been in storage. I used to make clothing, but it just wasn't of the quality I wanted. Now that I have a few more years of experiance tucked away, I think its time to start up again. I will keep you updated. I'm very excited!

Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day ( or as exciting as my days ever get). A friend is letting us borrow his PS3 and rented the new Ghostbusters game, so I will have a week or so of ghost busting action! Some lounging by the pool, getting some sushi...a fantastic weekend.

I heart you.

I'm in love with this outfit. It's so sweet, but has that bit of edge that I like.
